One of the most important tools
we can use to achieve healthy natural resources is through
an outreach and education effort. That effort includes
education on natural resource impacts and improvement
opportunities as well as information about our improvement
programs.
The outreach effort includes
newsletters and press releases, a conservation resource
library, classroom and other demonstrations, workshops, and
tours.
The Conservation Resource
Library has a variety of bulletins and reports from the US
Geological Survey, Wyoming Game and Fish Department and
others. There are several guidebooks for classroom
activities and other tools for educators. There is
information on septic systems, weed control, soils, water
resources and others.
In addition to demonstrations
about water quality monitoring, the SCCD has an Enviroscape
® model that shows how pollution types move through a
watershed. It helps to explain the watershed concept
and provides a good visual example of all of the activities
that can impact a water body. Students can use the
model to identify ways to improve the quality of water.
The SCCD has staff willing to perform a demonstration for
your classroom, tour, camp, or other activity.
